What good is theory without action? In all my writing, I aim balance my love for critical theory with practical examples, actionable strategies, and stories from 10+ yrs in the field.
Each month, I’ll share bite-sized chunks of theory, pocket-guides, lesson plans or articles, and resources you can actually use in your classroom. I’ll share digestible chunks of the theories that guide my work AND practical teaching strategies, visual art education resources and lesson plans, and reflections on my own experiences in the classroom.

About Me:
Alisha Mernick (she/her) is a Visual Art and Social Justice Educator based in Los Angeles, CA. She specializes in using art making to engage students in a critical analysis of issues of identity, social justice, anti-racism, and civic engagement. Alisha has served on the National Art Education Associations Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force, and is currently serving as Southern Area President and Lead EDI Commissioner for the California Art Education Association. She holds her MA in Art Education from NYU, and has been implementing liberatory, critical arts pedagogy in k-16 classrooms for over a decade.
